Hi,

i am running pound-current with a dominoserver and a AMP Server on a SuSE 
8.1 Server.

i installed typo3 and had some problems with pound 1.4 because of URL 
checking.
So i moved to pound-current, changed the entries in my pound.cgf from eg:

UrlGroup ".*"
        HeadRequire Host ".*liga.ikarus-abtenau.at"
        BackEnd 213.133.98.51,81,1
EndGroup

to
UrlGroup ".*"
        HeadRequire Host ".*liga.ikarus-abtenau.at.*"

EndGroup

and everything worked perfectly for me.

Now i have the problem that some clients get only a empty page when pointing 
their browsers to :
http://liga.ikarus-abtenau.at
Every other static or dynamic site on the server works perfectly with those 
clients.
Also when that client accesses the server via Port 81 directly everything 
works perfectly and the site is displayed.

You seem to miss a catch-all entry (like for a request with no Host
header). This might be important...

I suspect what you see is a problem of HTTP 1.0 clients which send no
Host header (it was not mandatory for 1.0). As per your logs the failure
occurs only for them (your successful accesses are all with HTTP 1.1).
In the pound log for the failed requests you have no virtual host - thus
no group matches...

I have no good solution for you, unless you want to define a "default"
server for clients which do not specify one: add something like

UrlGroup ".*"
	BackEnd 213.133.98.51,81,1
EndGroup

at the end of your configuration file.[...]

This is only the shortened version because i have 30 entries there for 
different domains to point to the corresponding server.

I downgraded to version 1.6 and i got the feedback that is is ok now, so it 
looks like a change between 1.6 and current, but i will provide more details 
tomorrow if this is really true.

The clients browser is a IE6.0 on XP but maybe there is a transparent proxy 
in between.

Not really useful because i am doing the decisions which server to take with 
pound for to many sites.
