pound 1.8.2 and Internet Explorer using https

I can't seem to get pound 1.8.2 to work with IE 6 (times out and give
the stupid page cannot be displayed page). Works fine with firefox etc.
Yes, I did read the FAQ - and added the usual
ALL:!ADH:!EXPORT56:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+LOW:+SSLv2:+EXP:+eNULL

I have pound 1.8 running on another machine - works just fine with IE
and other browsers using https (same config file). So the obvious answer
was to get 1.8 installed and working on the problem machine - no luck. I
even tired 1.7 - again no luck with IE. There were no issues
configuring, compiling and linking pound for any of these releases.
Various levels of logging yielded no obvious clues.

The only difference that I can think of that might be pertinent is that
the working machine is SUSE 9.1 and the non-working machine is SLES 9.0.
Even here it's grasping at straws because the SSL RPM's were the same
both openssl-0.9.7d-15.13. The devel rpms were different - but this
shouldn't matter openssl-devel-0.9.7d-15.10 vs openssl-devel-0.9.7d-15.

Anyone have 1.8.2 working with IE?
Anyone seen this problem with SLES?
Anyone have any idea on what else to try?

I did finally get things working.

It turns out that you can't listen in https (443) and then have a http
backend on something like port 8000. The backend must be listening on
port 80 if you want Internet Explorer to work. If you use any port other
than 80 for the backend - firefox etc. work but not IE. I was to busy
to look at the source to figure out why this happens. It was more
expedient to just create more internal IP's and then listen on port 80 -
hopefully I'll get some time to figure this one out properly someday.

FYI - the logs on SLES 9.0 looked about the same as yours - so my quick
fix should probably work for you.

Are you using Pound for OWA?
Cause maybe the "--enable-msdav" switch generate this error, just a guess..., i
try this later.
I tried 1.8.2, 1.8, 1.7 and current - any version have the same "bug", or IE
have the bug?!

Pound is listening on port 443, backend server is listening on port 80.

I am using openssl 0.9.7f on openbsd 3.6.
I also added ALL:!ADH:!EXPORT56:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+LOW:+SSLv2:+EXP:+eNULL
to pound.cfg.

Sorry for my bad english ;-)

when comiling Pound i get a lot of "error" msg's:

Guys, seems similar to the problem I was having recently. Instead of
using this URL in IE:

Try using this one:

See if that makes a difference.

Philip, in your case, I'd look at the errors you're getting during
compile. I didn't see anything like that any of the times I compiled
Pound.

I already did, but i can't figure out what exactly " warning: function
declaration isn't a prototype" means, in most cases this error appears when
compiling a kernel, with a lot of other compiling errors. In my case all works
fine (except the error msg's)...

Let's google again...

In btw.:
Like you i never saw this msg's before openbsd 3.6.
I had pound 1.4 working correctly on a openbsd 3.3 box with openssl 0.9.7b.
Compiling worked fine - without any errors...

It's finally working!
I switched back to Pound 1.5, configuring with "--with-ssl=/tmp/openssl
--enable-msdav + WebDAV1", using openssl-0.9.7f.
I also had to add the "-DNEED_STACK" flag into the Makefile, compiling worked
without any of the " function declaration

everything works fine.
Are there any security issues in Pound 1.5 fixed in above versions, or just
functionality updates?

I tried Pound 1.6, also added the -DNEED_STACK flag, compiling worked fine, but
some icons in OWA are not displayed.

With Pound 1.7 the make install command causes an error.
