Problems with streaming Windows media?

Hey all,

Pound has been doing a terrific job of load balancing and HA for our
LAMP-powered corporate web sites. My hat off to Robert and everyone else
who's contributed.

We do seem to be having one issue, though. We have a promotional corporate
video on one of our sites that's about 10Mbytes. It would appear that quite
often there seems to be issues retrieving this file through Pound, resulting
in playback errors.

I'm about to increase the Client timeout setting - anyone got any other
ideas where to look for this issue or what to try tuning? We're using the
1.90 codebase as I had problems getting 1.91 to compile on SuSE SLES 9 on
EMT64.

TIA,

-marc

We are at 1.9.3 now and that may exactly be your problem. IIRC there were
fixes introduced in >1.9.0 which may exactly fix the problem you have.
Maybe you should give it a try.

I actually threw 1.9.3 in this morning when I increased the client timeout
value.

*Fingers crossed*

Have you considered putting the video on Veoh?

We can provide free streaming and will soon allow you to deep link to
your video in our system from your own site. The cost to you is that
viewers will need to download a viewer to get high quality video.
Distributing via Veoh would side-step your issues with pound.
