uncommon domain name: Port is supported only for INET back-ends

Hi,

I am using pound v2.2.7 on debian stable/testing (x86).

Today I noticed, that the following error message
"Port is supported only for INET back-ends"
stopped pound from working, after I changed the name of a backend address.

The issue seems to be the domain name: the error is triggered for a TLD with
more than 3 letters.
Of course, these domains do not exist in public, but I guess, they are not
completely uncommon in private networks.

Should this kind of domain naming convention be able to stop pound from
working?
Maybe a more precise error message would be helpful in that case ...

thanks for your time,
Lars

Hi Lars,

maybe the gethostbyname call failed ( see config.c line 37 ). Are you
sure that the domain name lookup works ?
Did a simple nslookup <your.domain.name> works? Or have you added this
domain into your hosts file?

best regards,
axel
