BackEnd content checks

Hi,

I've read about the HAPort feature, but is there any simpler way to make
Pound check a specific page for a certain string every so often, to signal
if a server is dead or not? This is a feature we've grown used to with
ldirectord and can't live without unfortunately. All too often a back end
server will show error pages etc but still respond to HTTP requests just
fine. Making our own 'watchdog service' to do local content checks and
listen/not listen on certain ports is a bit too much :effort: to set up
across hundreds of servers.

Thanks!

I think your only option is writing a patch, which sounds a lot harder
than making your own watchdog.
