A proper way of detecting this condition and adjusting CFLAGS accordingly would be an excellent addition to Pound 2.7.

I vote for this 4 wishes/patches:
* reload config without downtime.
* backendcookies by pound
* simple test for alive backcend: check http url which expect a 200 o
503 response code
