* reload config without downtime.
* backendcookies by pound
* simple test for alive backcend: check http url which expect a 200 o
503 response code
* directive to set x-forwarded-for header name

Thank you very much for this clarification.

I asked about this, right after I signed up to this list, a few months
ago, but got no answer. Probably my wording was not clear enough.
Subsequently I got the (now I know wrong) impression that this was not
the case. I'll start to experiment now.

If you look at Robert's email from 12/28 where he announced Pound 2.6 stable,
you'll see the following:
Bug fixes:
    - keep sessions for disabled back-ends, continue using them until
      the time-out

Hence the 2.6 train resolved your feature request... If you were using or
asking about 2.5, then the answer was no... disabled backends dropped all
sessions immediately.

Aha, I see! Still more clear now.
This is a wonderful start of 2012.
Thanks

I've been using this patch ever since Joe provided it and would like this
functionality to be part of the main program.

Hi, Robert,

I would like to reiterate the request for some form of dynamic backend
designation (or the like) so that the IP addresses of backend servers can
be periodically updated rather than be cached permanently at start up.
Perhaps an alternative would be to provide a means of updating the address
using poundctl.

The topic (plus patch) was discussed in this thread:
http://www.apsis.ch/pound/pound_list/archive/2011/2011-06/1308931610000

Thanks,

Rob
